|
The Sacrament of Confirmation completes the Sacrament of Baptism.
It is usually administered when the child is in Primary 7 class, after the child has received the Sacrament of Reconciliation and after the child makes their First Holy Communion.
Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation takes place in school. Before Confirmation is administered to any child there must be regular practice of faith, a strong desire to be Confirmed and fulfilment of all the preparation programme both at school and in the parish. The Sponsor at Confirmation should be one of the Baptismal Godparents and that person must be a practising Catholic. Another Christian name is usually chosen for Confirmation. In Confirmation the child is anointed with Holy Oil of Chrism and receives the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit which are: - Wisdom
- Understanding
- Right Judgement
- Courage
- Knowledge
- Reverence
- Wonder and Awe
