The Arts & Crafts Committee was established in 2004 to bring together people who were interested in making and donating articles to raise funds for needy causes throughout the world.
The Arts & Crafts Committee was formed to help showcase local talent and to explore ways in which we, as a Parish Community, could set up our own classes and get people involved in crafts.
Following on from our first successful exhibition in 2003 Kathleen Knox and Betty O’Brien set up a class on a Friday evening teaching cross-stitching. The classes have become very popular and it is hoped we will be able to extend these. Our second aim was to provide funds for an adopted charity each year: At our first exhibition in 2003 we raised £3000 for Trocaire In 2004 we raised £2,000 for Lourdes In 2005 we raised ??? for ??? In 2006 we raised £3,000 for the Hospice In 2007 we raised £1,100 for the Mandeville Unit.
All our members are very dedicated giving freely and willingly of their time. We feel as a Committee that the exhibitions we put on are good for our parish community and two of the exhibitions were a cross community effort with excellent input from the other Faith Communities in the Lurgan area. Next Committee Meeting
The next meeting of the committee will take place on Tuesday 13th March at 11.00am in St. Peter’s Parish Hall. The planning for the Exhibition is continuing. Exhibts may be given to Noel McCann at St. Peters Church. 2007 'Down Memory Lane - Part II'
