St. Peter's Church Refurbishment - February 2009 Update

ARRANGEMENTS DURING THE CLOSURE

Many people have asked about arrangements for Mass and other Church Services while St. Peter’s is closed for renovations.

This has not been an easy matter to decide and a number of options were considered. As the time span for the work is estimated to be about eighteen months it was thought that  the arrangements should facilitate the Liturgical life of the parish with the least possible inconvenience for our people. It was also thought that the temporary arrangements would need to be large enough for most occasions, and be located  in close proximity to St. Peter’s Church. Also, taking account of  health and safety requirements, it has been decided to locate a temporary church in Grattan Park. This building will be similar to the one currently in use in Dungannon, where Dean Curry, Parish Priest, and the parishioners found this temporary arrangement very suitable.

RENEWAL OF OFFERTORY COLLECTION SCHEME

We hope every family received a copy of the Brochure for the renewal of the Offertory Collection Scheme in our parish, and that everyone had an opportunity to consider its contents.  We are asking everyone to:

  • Review their Offertory contributions and give our parish what they can afford.
  • If you already receive parish envelopes, a box will be delivered to your home.
  • If you don’t have a box and would like to have one, please return the tear-off section of the brochure to the Parish Office.
  • If you would like to pay your contributions by bankers order, please let us know by returning the tear-off section.
  • If you pay income tax and contribute to the Offertory Collection, please consider signing the Gift Aid Declaration and return it to the office.
  • If you receive a box of envelopes and have signed a Gift Aid Declaration, you don’t need to return the tear-off slip.
  • As the new parish envelope year will begin on 15th March please make the returns of the tear-off section before next weekend so that all the envelopes can be ready for distribution in good time.
  • Please let us know if you have changed your address. This can be done by returning the tear-off slip

Together let us face the future with hope.

Yours sincerely,

Rt. Rev. Mgr. Aidan Hamill, P.P.V.G.
